The HERS Breast Cancer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides programs and services supporting the needs of women and families affected by breast cancer in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Bras for Body & Soul®, a program of the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation, provides medically necessary items such as bras, prosthesis, lymphedema sleeves, wigs and more, to women who have had breast surgery. We also carry bras appropriate for all women and girls, including nursing bras.

Fourth Annual Keep Abreast - Walking Together for Her - 2003

September 27, 2003

The HERS Breast Cancer Foundation wants to thank everyone who participated in our Fourth Annual KEEP ABREAST--Walking Together for Her event on September 27, 2003.

100% of the proceeds from this event stay in our local community. We consider this to be "The Event That Walks With You All Year" because even after the event itself is over, the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation staff and volunteers are present to women and families all year.

We would like to thank our generous sponsors, including:

  • Presenting Sponsor: Fremont Bank Foundation
  • ANG Newspapers - The Argus

  • 96.5 KOIT Radio
  • Washington Hospital Healthcare System
  • Luna Bars
  • Pennysaver
  • Unified Western Grocers
  • Disc Makers
  • KPMG
  • TheSchedule.com
  • Sunshine Graphics
  • Assembly Member John Dutra
  • Wilson Clinical Thermography
  • Collective Discovery

Registrants showed up early,
ready to go!

HERS Executive Director Cheryl Maloney welcomes the participants

Honorary co-chairs Bernie Dutra and
Fil Gelfuso address the crowd

Walkers are warmed up and
anxious to begin walking!

The Dominican Sisters attended
to support the participants and
cheer the walkers/runners

Michael Amaral sang "You'll
Never Walk Alone," as we begin
the Opening Ceremonies.

Our opening ceremony started with the
traditional Circle of Breast Cancer
survivors, who each shared their
 name and number of years
as a Survivor.

Each Survivor was given a white dove
to hold, all of which were then
released for a beautiful flight
above the crowd.
